​Mount Vernon, OH – Today, Governor Mike DeWine awarded a second round of grants to local law enforcement agencies totaling $2 million as part of the Ohio General Assembly funded Ohio Violent Crime Reduction Grant Program.  The second round of grants is part of a $58 million program funded primarily by ARPA funds received from the federal government.  Funding will be primarily used to recruit, retain, and hire law enforcement officers.
 
Knox County Republican Scott Pullins, who is running for the Ohio House in the newly drawn District 98, today blasted State Representative Darrell Kick (R) – Loudonville, for voting against this program through his vote against HB 169 that created it.  Pullins said he would not only have voted for HB 169, but would also have cosponsored it.
 
“Darrell Kick needs to explain to the voters in Coshocton, Holmes, and Knox counties why he voted against providing grants to local law enforcement to combat violence,” said Pullins.  “If this bill hadn’t passed, then the money would have been sent to states like California and New York instead.”
 
“Unlike RINO Darrell, I will never vote to defund our local first responders,” continued Pullins.  “Darrell Kick says he is a conservative Republican, but he voted like a member of Black Lives Matter or other anti-cop, far left groups.”
