I've been fighting for Ohio taxpayers for decades. These old videos aren't the best quality but they clearly illustrate my hard work. Take a look if you can:

Below is my full speech to the Knox County Republican Central Committee from last night. I got through most of it. I also added in a section about my late friend, Owen Quinn. Owen was a 16 year old young man who dated my girlfriend's daughter. Owen was a great kid and he had hung out at my house, ate at our dinner table, and watched tv from our couch. Owen and his father both committed suicide last year and I blame the pandemic lockdowns for it. Anyway, here's the speech:
Thank you Chairman Collier. And I want to thank you all for attending tonight. My daughter and others have reminded me to smile, and I’ll do my best, but its hard to smile when I’m so damn angry at the leadership, or lack thereof, from Ohio Republicans. In my opinion, what we all have gone through over the past two years has been an abject failure of leadership. If the last two years was a test, then our leaders failed miserably. And with all due respect that includes my opponent Darrell Kick. I am a Republican for life. I am still the only high school student I know that subscribed to National Review magazine. I worked on my first Republican campaigns when I was 18 years old. I worked myself sick for this party. I bled for this party. I donated untold time, energy and funds to this party. I have been loyal to this party, even when this party wasn’t real loyal to me. Two years ago today I had no plans to seek this office. But the actions and inactions of our leaders have forced me to step out of my comfort zone and run for the well being of our community. Our leaders have treated us like children. Stand six feet apart. Wear a mask. Don’t wear a mask. Wear a N95 mask. Don’t wear one. A 10pm curfew. A curfew? We are Americans and we are adults. We don’t have curfews outside of wartime. And what we have done to our children is even worse. And as a longtime charter school board member I’ve seen the damage first-hand. We’ve also seen the damage first hand right here in this county. The People of Ohio, and especially Knox County deserve better. Much better. (pause) I also want to talk about Mr. Kick, some of the votes he has made, and what exactly I would do differently. Let’s start with SB 52. SB 52, which is now law, gives local governments, including our county commissioners, some say over these big wind and solar projects. I would have voted yes, while Darrell Kick voted NO along with every Democrat in the Ohio House. Then there is HB 169. This bill, which is also now law, will provide $250 million in grants to local communities that have been impacted by an increase in violent crime during the COVID19 pandemic. Another portion of the bill includes $300 million for nursing facilities and $124 million for rural hospitals. I am a strong fiscal conservative. However, these are federal funds already sent to Ohio. If they aren’t spent, they get returned to Washington and then sent to California or New York. Darrell Kick voted NO. I would have voted yes because I will always fight for Knox County and whatever other counties they put in this district. I will make sure that Knox County gets its fair share and more of our fair share if I can. Let’s also talk health freedom. I’ve had two vaccines and my flu shot. But whether you get any of these shots is no one’s business other than you and your doctors. No government, no school, no employer should be able to force you to take a vaccine. I would have supported HB 248 and signed the discharge petition while Darrell Kick opposes HB 248. I am pro life from conception until natural death. I have long opposed the death penalty and believe the harshest penalty that we can ever give a criminal is remorse. I have collected and used firearms since I was six years old. I started out with a lever action bb gun when I went out into the woods with my father and I moved up from there. I’m a member of the NRA and the Buckeye Firearms Association. In my opinion, the first and the second amendments to our constitution are the best ones. And we all know that the second amendment isn’t about deer hunting. Ultimately, its how we protect our other rights. This district is the fifth most Republican district in the state. Darrell Kick serves on the House Finance Committee, the most powerful committee in state government. Most of his colleagues have raised lots of money because of it. And yet, all of last year he only raised about $9,000. In the past 60 days I have brought in nearly that. I will raise more. Much more. And I will help my colleagues that are no longer in districts this Republican. I will also fight smarter. Much smarter. And I will use my 36 years of political and government experience to do so. I have friendships and relationships with legislators, lobbyists, and staff that go back 20 and 30 years or more. I will not get lost at the statehouse. I promise you this. I will never fail to act, or claim to be unable to help, when the next crisis arrives or a Governor, Republican or Democrat, attempts to abuse their authority. The Ohio House is the people’s house, and I will work to restore it as a separate, and equal branch of state government. Thank you. Questions? |
