Mount Vernon, OH – Knox County Republican Scott Pullins, who is exploring a run for the Ohio House in the newly drawn District 98, today blasted State Representative Darrell Kick (R) – Loudonville, for his vote against HB 169.  Among other things, HB 169 will provide $250 million in grants to local communities that have been impacted by an increase in violent crime during the COVID19 pandemic.  The money comes from federal funds already paid to the State of Ohio.

“I don’t know about where Darrell Kick lives, but here in Knox County our law enforcement agencies, our courts, and our other first responders could certainly use some of this money”, stated Pullins.  “Why in the world would any Republican vote to defund our local police, fire, and emergency services?”

Another portion of the bill includes $300 million for nursing facilities and $124 million for rural hospitals.  Hospitals and nursing facilities, especially in rural areas, have been hit especially hard by the COVID19 pandemic.

“Knox County’s hospital and nursing homes needs these funds,” said Pullins.  “Why would Darrell Kick vote against them?  I will always vote in support of Knox County’s first responders, hospital, and nursing home facilities.”
