Scott Pullins Blasts RINO Republicans for Their Support of Redistricting Reform

Mount Vernon, OH – Longtime conservative Republican leader Scott Pullins of Knox County today blasted Ohio Republican leaders who backed redistricting constitutional amendments in 2015 and 2018.  Pullins said that a ruling today striking down legislative maps is the natural and predictable result of these amendments.

“Our system for drawing statehouse districts had worked well for my entire lifetime,” said Pullins.  “The mess that we’re in now is what results when you hand over this authority to liberal special interest groups.  Democrats couldn’t beat us at the ballot box so now they’ve gone to court and beat us four times.”

“Similar redistricting amendments were soundly defeated in both 2005 and 2012 because Republicans and business groups fought them and won at the ballot box,” continued Pullins.  “What changed in 2015 and 2018 is that RINO Republicans like my opponent, Darrell Kick, surrendered to left wing groups without firing a shot.”

“The only way to resolve this situation in the long term is to repeal these disastrous amendments to Ohio’s constitution,” said Pullins.  “But for the short term, we are stuck with this process and neither impeachment nor the federal court can bail us out.”
