Mount Vernon, OH – Yesterday, longtime conservative Republican leader Scott Pullins of Knox County called upon GOP Lt. Governor Jon Husted to either resign as Lt. Governor or resign from two paid corporate boards that he has joined. Pullins is a GOP candidate for State Representative in what will likely be the 98th Ohio House district. Today, Pullins said that the Ohio General Assembly should begin proceedings to remove Husted from office if he fails to resign from the boards or from office.
“Jon Husted is the highest paid elected statewide official and makes over $176,000 per year, even more than the Governor,” said Pullins. “Taking this corporate gig is simply a slap in the face to Republican voters who barely renominated him a few weeks ago.”
“Ohio’s statewide elected officials, especially ones that were deeply involved in other scandals, need to avoid actual conflicts, but also the appearance of conflicts and impropriety,” continued Pullins. “Taking two paid corporate board seats while serving as the full time Lt. Governor stinks and Ohioans know it,” said Pullins. “If Husted doesn’t resign, then the Ohio General Assembly should begin proceedings to remove him from office and the Ohio Republican Party should replace him on the ballot.”
Scott Pullins is an Ohio attorney, charter school board member, political consultant, and writer. Scott Pullins has advised clients on complex legal, business, marketing and public policy issues. He is also the co-founder of the Ohio Taxpayers Association. He is an elected member of the Knox County Republican Central Committee.
Mr. Pullins attended Ohio University and earned his Bachelors of Arts in Political Science from The Ohio State University. He earned his Juris Doctorate from Capital University Law School. For further information, please visit www.scottpullins.org .
